The Indian Premier League's revised schedule was given to the Home Ministry on Monday but the concerned state governments are yet to respond.
The IPL coincides with the general elections in the country and the organisers of the cash-rich league have been forced to revamp the schedule to avoid matches on polling days in the host cities.
IPL officials have added six new venues- Vadodara, Vishakhapatnam, Nagpur, Cuttack, Ahmedabad, Indore in the revised schedule.
At least seven out of eight states have verbally expressed the need for central paramilitary forces. Though, the IPL organisers have conveyed to the Home Ministry that they do not require any central forces for the security.
The Home Ministry will hold talks with the states and the Indian Cricket Board.
"Revised schedule received from the IPL will be sent to the concerned state governments for their comments," a Home Ministry spokesman said.
The IPL commissioner Lalit Modi is expected to update the media on Tuesday about the developments for the league's second season. Team owners will be hoping that the venues and dates get finalised soon.
But according to the IPL deal, the organisers had asked all eight states for the blackout dates. The states reportedly sent those dates, which means they were OK to hold matches on other dates.
The new schedule, which will be referred to state DGPs, is said to be based on these dates and is waiting for the final go-ahead from the authorities.
Home Minister P Chidambaram had earlier stated that some re-scheduling of IPL matches "seems unavoidable", as he was trying his best to ensure that the second edition of the event is held smoothly.
The 45-day extravaganza begins on April 10 and the 60 matches to be played among eight teams and spread over eight cities will end on May 24.
