Team India leaves for Canberra

With the BCCI deciding to continue the controversy-marred tour of Australia, the Indian cricket team on Wednesday left for Canberra to play a three-day practice match against ACT XI starting from Thursday.

The Indians were asked by the BCCI to stay put here after a string of umpiring blunders cost them the second Test and a race row with Australian all-rounder Andrew Symonds resulted in a three-match ban on off spinner Harbhajan Singh.

But the deadlock ended on Tuesday after the ICC decided to replace controversial West Indian umpire Steve Bucknor with New Zealand's Billy Bowden and allowed Harbhajan to play in the remainder of the series pending a decision on the BCCI appeal against the ban on him.

A team spokesman was scheduled to address the media but it had to be cancelled as the Indians decided against adding anything new to a controversy which seems to have been put to rest for the time being.

Former skipper Sourav Ganguly merely said "we're not allowed to comment" before boarding the team bus, which ended up grazing a parked car as it tried to go past a group of anticipating journalists and cricket fans.

The Indians will play their third Test of the series against Australia in Perth from January 16.

but ultimately, Aussie's purpose is served, they wanted this test win very badly just to prove that they are the best Aus team ever, beating Steve Waugh's team. there was small war of words between former players and present players. and sadly, both MCG and SCG, which could have proven favourable to India, disturbed by unwanted events. moreover, all 5 senior players did not get proper ending to their 'down under' career with series win or at least draw.

Well .. at the end of the day its all about money...! $50mn ! and what about pride of india???? - india's loss in SCG / Bhajji's or rather india's image in the view of racism alligation! The whole country reacted... supported team india But it looks there is no value for people's sentiments ! BCCI claim "VICTORY" with just removal of one umpire !! It is high time WE realize cricket , BCCI is just behind money ... nothing more ...

I wonder as to why the BCCI and other officials concerned are not giving STRONG MESSAGE. BEND it to the likes of ASIANS Put an end to the POLICIES laid out by the Whites. Silence those who commented against the BRAHMINICAL

There r only 2 options for the result of sydney test 1 Cancel it from record book 2 if cancellation is not possible , we , indians r ready to accept the result by sporting spirit but then bucknor should awarded man of the match and henceforth cricket should not known as gentleman's game

It is good to know the news of Australian legends slam Ponting's team. They had played cricket in the real sense and gave their country proud of one of the best cricket playing nation. Today's lot though winning, maintaining their status as number position but at what cost !! They do not know old saying.."if honour / creditibility is lost every thing is lost".
