The International Cricket Council will resist Indian demands to sack umpire Steve Bucknor from standing in next week's third Test against Australia in Perth.
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) wants Bucknor banned from officiating at the match in Perth as punishment for a series of blunders he made during the second test in Sydney.
"The standard Test match playing conditions are signed by the respective board, and the condition states that neither team has a right to object to an umpire's appointment. There is little ICC can do"
BCCI has officially lodged an appeal with ICC against Bucknor officiating the Perth Test
But things do not seem to go India's way in that either. The ICC rule book says, that member countries are not permitted to interfere or oppose the appointment of umpires. Jamaican-born Bucknor is the most experienced umpire in international cricket history, having stood in a record 120 Tests, and five World Cup finals.

Does anyone out there get a feeling of any pre-arrangement between Steve and ponting team to make sure Aussie won 16th consecutive test?

ICC should be considerate to the fact that Steve is not in form and making big mistakes. I think he should be grounded for health reasons which is quite under the perview of rules of ICC. Infact if ICC still gives a green signal to Steve's umpiring in 3rd test then it can be considered as a ruthless truth of injustice to Asian teams which we are seeing since last 5 years. I think India has all the right to get a umpire who is in form and in good health.

Mr.Bucknor should take a seat now. He has been standing for a long enough. His legs are tired and ears and eye sight are not up to the mark. I doubt Bucknor is a nutral Umpire.History of the records shows he has always have something for Indian Players. Sachin is a good example. Mr. Bucknor How many times you have given him out wrongly? Please leave.

After watching the last test match, ICC should have taken a positive step in this matter by removing bucknor from the series. It would be very disappointing to see him back as umpire in perth. Also BCCI should make sure that bucknor never gets a chance to umpire any matches of india, whether at home or away.

well well the bulbous and bloated BCCI boss can once more do nothing -if this is true - then why protest? All talk no action like before - it is time to kick axx and tell the bums in ICCI that they cannot expect Indian funds to move them around the world Perhaps Mr Sunil you know who should do more than wagging his tail

White pigs should be bycotted, and bucknor should be banned from world cricket for ever. He has proved that umpiring is his part time job. He works as full time sweeper at Pontig's home.
