Pakistan salvaged some pride by recording a thumping 10-wicket win over Bangladesh in their last Super Four of the Asia Cup in Karachi.

First, they choked the Bangladesh batting and bundled them for a paltry 115 runs and then they achieved the target in just 19.4 overs without losing a wicket.

Salman Butt (56) and Nasir Jamshed (52) slammed half-centuries and steered their side to victory.

Earlier, none of the Bangla batsmen showed any resistance for long and succumbed on the flat track of Karachi. Tamim Iqbal was the highest scorer with 26 runs to his name. No other batsman made 20 runs.

Pakistan bowlers put the opposition under pressure by picking first wicket in the second over of the match. Fast bowler Abdur Rauf picked three wickets while Sohail Tanvir and Shoaib Malik took one wicket each. Rao Iftikhar Anjum and Saeed Ajmal picked two wickets apiece.

Rauf first removed Bangladesh opener Nazimuddin in the second over and then got rid of Mohammad Ashraful for 14 runs. Tanvir, in the very next over, sent the new man Raqibul Hasan back without any addition to the scoreboard. Tamim Iqbal survived for 26 runs and perished to Rauf.

Rao Iftikhar Anjum, not be left behind, got the big wicket of Alok Kapali for just 17 runs. Kapali had hit a century against India in his last match. Mashrafe Mortaza was his next victim. Mushfiqur Rahim paid a price for being slow between the wickets and went back adding just 15 runs. Shoaib Malik, returning to the side after an injury, picked the wicket of Mahmudullah. Saeed Ajmal dismissed Farhad Reza and Abdur Razzak.

The result of this match have no bearing on Asia Cup as India and Sri Lanka will play the final on Sunday at the National Stadium.
