India on Wednesday recorded the second largest ODI win as they beat Hong Kong by 256 runs in their Asia Cup tie in Karachi.

Electing to bat first, India made 374 runs with the help of centuries from MS Dhoni and Suresh Raina and fifties from Virender Sehwag and Gautam Gambhir. In reply, Hong Kong were bundled for just 118 runs.

India also hold the record of the largest ODI win that came against Bermuda in World Cup 2007 in West Indies. Their India had beaten them by a margin of 257 runs.

Spinners dictated the Hong Kong batsmen as they bagged seven out of ten wickets. Piyush Chawla picked four wickets. He removed Tabarak Dar (21), Hussain Butt (4), CK Kruger (3) and Munir Dar (4). Sehwag picked two wickets while Yusuf Pathan and RP Singh got one wicket each.

India had an exceptional outing with the bat. After electing to bat, openers Virender Sehwag and Gautam Gambhir thrashed Hong Kong bowlers and gave a solid start to their side in their opening match of the Asia Cup.

The Delhi duo put a 127-run partnership for the first wicket. Sehwag slammed a half-century in just 28 balls. He hit thirteen fours and two sixes in his innings. Gambhir also carried on with his form. Najeeb Amar dismissed Virender Sehwag for 78 runs and Gautam Gambhir for 51 runs.

Rohit Sharma missed out on the run feast as standing at the non-striking end, he was caught napping and perished to a direct throw from the point region. After his exit, runs dried up for India but Dhoni and Raina consolidated the innings and piled up a huge total.

India's captain cool Dhoni along with Suresh Raina put a 166-run partnership for the fourth wicket. Dhoni (109) slammed his fourth ODI hundred in 96 balls with the help of six 4s and six 6s. Suresh Raina hit his maiden ODI hundred and fell to Afzaal Haider. His 101 came in just 68 balls with the help of seven 4s and five 6s. He was also adjudged as the 'Man of the Match'.
